Started in 1965 by Maurice Hudgell and based in Market Street, Woolwich, Hudgell & Partners has provided legal services in South East London for nearly 50 years. The company has an extensive knowledge of the local area with a high percentage of repeat business, a testament to the level of service provided.
Hudgell & Partners has secured accreditation from a number of Law Society organizations that regulate and monitor member partnerships.
Hudgell & Partners is a member of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) the mark of excellence for the home buying process. It has undergone rigorous assessment by the Law Society in order to secure CQS status, which marks the firm out as meeting high standards in the residential conveyancing process.
In the care of children:
Philip Wilkins, a partner at Hudgell & Partners is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel. Members will have shown, to the satisfaction of the Law Society that they have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of children’s law and are able to represent children in court proceedings.
In the management of the partnership:
Hudgell & Partners has been certified by Lexcel, the Law Society’s international practice management standard. It is a scheme for any type of practice to certify that certain standards have been met following independent assessment. Lexcel accredited practices undergo rigorous independent assessment every year to ensure they meet required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management.
In the resolution of family disputes:
Several lawyers within the practice are members of Resolution. It is an organization of 6,500 lawyers in-England-and-Wales, who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. Resolution supports the development of family lawyers through its national and regional training programmes, publications, good practice guides and through its accreditation scheme.

In matters of domestic violence:
Hudgell & Partners is a partner with Her Centre, the-Greenwich-based women’s charity that works with a number of local agencies to ensure women get the services they are looking for. Its advice centre, The One Stop Shop is jointly run by The Her Centre, Greenwich Women’s Aid, Refuge, Tryangle Trust and suported by Adelle Banks from Hudgell & Partners along with the police and housing resettlement team.
Hudgell & Partners is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Established in January 2007, the SRA was previously called the Law Society Regulation Board. The SRA is the independent regulatory body of the Law Society of England and Wales. It regulates more than 120,000 solicitors in England and Wales. Its purpose is to protect the public by ensuring that solicitors meet high standards and by acting when risks are identified.
